I ran the repairs update today. I'm getting an explanation statement regarding amortization of domestic research and experimental costs that's attached to the return. It's showing up with my clients that have rental properites. I can't delete it. Anyone else getting this?

I just saw it today for the first time. It's a tax return that has two residential rental properties. I don't see where "domestic research and experimental costs" would be at all relevant in this situation.

Thanks for checking in @IntuitKate … guess it falls in the general category of unexpected behavior

I was doing a final review of the tax return and noticed this as well. The client sold their rental property in 2025. I'm unable to delete this explanation statement or verify why it's populating on the return.

Were you able to efile the 1040? Mine keeps failing final review for the overrides.
UPDATE - I took off the check for errors in the convert and transmit and now I can .

cutting the check errors should work. Otherwise, I wasn't concerned if this was sent in with the return. It is completely inapplicable to the return so it doesn't hurt the return for it to be there.
I'm open to criticism on that approach. Would love to hear if that isn't a wise approach.

The numbers on the return don't change so I wouldn't lose any sleep over transmitting the return.

YES.
I just spent an hour +++ to try and figure this out. It also added the Rev.Proc 2025-28 R&D explanation statement to EVERY RETURN!!
What a mess!!

I was able to get the form to go away by overriding and deleting the five lower lines in the body.
Once you override and delete the last line, the form goes away from the Forms In Use bar and no longer appears to be attached to the returns.
Trying to override and delete the "Explanation of:" line as well will leave you with an override error.

After being on hold for nearly an hour, the so called "front line person" that I spoke to could only tell me that they are investigating this. No clue as to how long this investigation is going to take. I asked to speak to someone who is working on this and was told that they don't have phones. What horrible customer service!

@CKohlEA "Once you override and delete the last line, the form goes away from the Forms In Use bar and no longer appears to be attached to the returns."
But does it stay away? If you close the return and then open it again is the form gone or does it magically appear again?

It doesn't hurt anything if it is there. Unless the election specifically affects the clients return. But you can override the body of the error, I believe.

Following this thread.
[removed] Proseries is being 'proactive' and either putting this election in and/or Not fixing their glitches BEFORE the updates ar released.
Have a Sch C client who does NOT have anything to do with Research & Experimental Costs and can NOT delete the [removed] statement.
Hey, Proseries!
Fix your [removed] glitches BEFORE releasing any updates!

Actually someone just posted on another thread that they released a fix this afternoon. But not all updates hit folks at the same time, so be patient if yours isn't fixed yet.
