I filled out the form for the MN homestead tax refund. This year, the little box is checked which indicates that my client, at the time of printing, owed back taxes. It seems that this should disqualify him from the refund. However, the program is still indicating he will get a refund. Can someone explain?

Sometimes the preparer has to be smarter than the software. You have to wait for the back taxes to be paid before you can file the return.

Excellent, I can do that. I have confirmed that the back taxes have been paid. Do I uncheck the box or leave it checked?
