I filed a client's tax return and then found out soon after that a document had been missed.  We filed a superseded return since it was still before April 15.  Problem is the new amount due on the 1040-X did not transfer to the Info wks, and I can't see why.  Still shows the amount due from the original return.  Any ideas?

When you prepared the superseded return did you include the tax paid or refund received from  the original?

I thought I did.  There was a balance due on the original return and on the amended/superseded return it was a smaller balance due than the original, but somehow I missed this and in the Info Wks where you enter payment date and such, it still showed the original amount due even though on the 1040-X it showed the correct amount.  Seemed like a software glitch, but guessing it was a user glitch of some sort, just not sure what caused it.  Thanks!

When you file the 1940x i think there’s a smart worksheet where you state the amount paid or refunded with the original return. The software then makes the appropriate adjustment to the amount due or to be refunded.

sounds like there will be another 1040x in your future… wait til it processes to be sure. Maybe check where’s my refund?
