I am having the hardest time figuring out how to list different residency status for a married filing joint couple.  She is full time Oregon resident and he moved up to Wa in march 2025 to work. The allocation wks. is really giving me some trouble listing her interest from bank as resident state of WA.  Its a headache and a half for such a simple entry.. Any suggestions?

There's a part year worksheet at the bottom of the Fed Info worksheet Part XI, are you using that to split up the income between the states?

I finally figured out I have to list the taxpayer as a part year resident in order to get  it to calculate correctly.  Its not my favorite solution but I guess it will work, even if taxpayer is still a full year resident of Oregon.  Really that was issue was not getting to tax the income made in WA by the spouse.

Washington is community property.  Oregon is not.  So unless they have an agreement to disclaim community property, you have more than the usual work involved in allocating income.  (Of course, Washington has no state income tax.)
