Retired Minister has two 1099R's and according to church he is entitled to housing allowance against this income. there is no amount in box2a and 2B is checked taxable amount not determined. there is no indication on the 1099's concerning housing allowance. My question is if I put 0 in the taxable income where to enter any explanation of the adjustment. There are some older articles on this but not specifically on pro series just on other intuit products.

I report -0- and I attach an "Additional Information Worksheet" with the following.
THE TAXPAYER RECEIVED FORM 1099-R FROM XXX PENSION TRUST, EIN: XX-XXXXXX IN THE AMOUNT OF $XXX. THIS DISTRIBUTION IS NOT TAXABLE UNDER IRC SECTION 107 AS CLERGY HOUSING ALLOWANCE.

If you want the explanation to be transmitted with the return, my understanding is that you need to put the explanation using "Preparer Notes".
While I have no way of verifying any of what I am about to say...Several years ago somehow I was led to believe that "Preparer Notes" are transmitted with the return, where as "Supporting Statements" which are available for many lines in Proseries were not.
Again, my understanding only.
