it doesnt matter, "RMD" doesnt appear on the actual 1040 anywhere.

Thought it might. Client got a letter from IRS something to the effect that her return might be in error
since taxable amount not matching 1099 report. The return did show in the margin "QCD."
As long as QCD appears in the margin, that's all you'll see on the actual 1040.
What is the letter asking for?
Every year 2 or 3 of my clients who made QCDs get letters about incorrect taxable IRA amounts. I respond with QCD explanation and documentation.
