IRS Payment Plans for Amounts Due on their 1040 - Intuit Accountants Community

Iron Man: Once the taxpayer receives the friendly notice from the IRS that they still owe xxxx $, do they offer the taxpayer a payment plan for the next 3- 5 years or so?

IRS will give them 5 or 6 months to get it paid off without a payment plan, so have them dink away at it each month using IRS DirectPay, in Aug or Sept IRS will send a letter telling you to pay it off or get a payment plan.
