The Proseries error kicks in when you prepare a return and the client is 73 or older. I did a quick scan of IRS pronouncements and didn't see anything new on 1099R reporting.

Actually it seems to me that it kicks in when you have a taxpayer who is 73 or older WHO HAS A RETIREMENT DISTRIBUTION...
But if they don't report a distribution the error does not appear?
I'm just wondering which is actually more likely to NOT have received an RMD?
