Hello,
I am having a bit of a problem trying to qualify a client for the Child Tax Credit. She is head of household with three children recieving SS survivor benefits. Will the benefits not permit her the credits she needs? She is also self employed recieving additional income through her Schedule C and through a Schedule K-1 as pass through earnings.
Is there a reason why she does not qualify?

It's highly unlikely that the survivor benefits, especially when the maximum allowed is split three ways, is more than half the kids' support. Maybe if they camp out down by the river and farm their own food. Why do you think there is a problem? Have you done the numbers?

Did you enter the kids' SS on the parent's return?
The more I know the more I don’t know.
