I have a client who resides in California. He has never lived in Illinois. He works from home, his position was changed and was put in a division that the employer is based in Illinois. They took out Illinois and California taxes. Does he still need to pay Illinois tax as a non-resident? If so how do you calculate the income? He started the new job April - December.

CA resident return
IL nonresident return (you'll have to research if telecommuting income is taxable in IL)
CA will tax it all and give credit for taxes paid to IL if you end up having to pay IL taxes on telecommuting income.
