The parents carry healthcare insurance through their employer on their 25 year old son who is not their dependent. The son's name is shown on the 1095-B along with the parents' names. I've been inputting the son's name on the Healthcare Entry Sheet but do I need to do that? How does the IRS know that the son has coverage through his parents?

If the son is not a dependent, you don't enter anything on the parents' return about the son unless they have a Marketplace 1095-A where both the parent's and the son are listed as covered.

1095B doesn't get entered into the program. Do you mean the 1095A?

No, they didn't have a 1095-A from the marketplace. Employer plan 1095-B (see question).
