I am trying to amend Federal return for 2016. Do I go to the current year proseries and select form "X"  and select 2016 on the top or do I go to 2016 pro series and select form "X"? 

For State, I do not see where I can select more than one year on the top of the for in 2018 pro series. I am guessing I will have to go to 2016 proseries and find state amendment form.

Go to 2016 to do the amendments.

I do all my amendments using the tax year program that the amendment is for.     

Using 2018 to create a 2016 amendment would just be too confusing for me.

I agree with both here. Copy and save under "x" at end and then amend away.
