Filed client return and has rejected twice for the same code IND-452 and states the primary taxpayer's ID number has already been filed. I'm resorting to mailing the return as I don't know how else to fix this return. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Someone filed a return in that SSN. If its a common last name, it could have just been a (un)lucky typo by a stranger (a mistake), or worst case, an attempt at ID theft.

When something like that happens the irs will tell you to mail the tax return and they will investigate. So just mail the federal and the state.
