Only problem with that is...Pub 17 doesn't address State issues....or you are either sending them on a wild goose chase....or, heaven forbid, mocking Ironman's comments.

If I remember correctly (which is usually wrong), the context was to look into @BobKamman 's Pub 17, because he has all kinds of comments on the side -- not just state tax issues, but also some of the situations that he ran into, as far back as (per @IRonMaN ) 1968.  

I believe Bob said he helped write Pub 17 - but that is beside the point.  The standard answer from our friend from Hawaii is to check out Pub 17.  If someone asked what size Dorothy's ruby red slippers were, her response would be to look at Pub 17.
