when you enter data in P.S Professional and enter the current date but then it may be a month later before client provides additional information to complete the return - what date are you supposed to use in the date pin entered?

Iron Man is exactly correct because that is the date that you received signed permission from the client. Just my opinion.

The date they give me the signed 8879 is the PIN date I enter.
Leaving the date blank until the 8879 is returned, also keeps an error on the return, so it cant accidently be EFiled prior to getting the 8879.

Since I use the Practitioner PIN option, TP's PIN is automatically generated, so I entered the date when I start the return. Gets rid of that rascally red diagnostic.
