Has anyone seen a 1098-T like this? This student, per parent, had severe issues with remote learning and basically dropped out of college. I understand that the Scholarship would be taxable to the student because it exceeds the tuition. But my question is this. Is there any exception due to Covid? She didn't receive that money and I would have thought the college would have sent the scholarship back or counted it as tuition paid. I have never had this so had to ask.

1098-Ts are frequently wrong.
Have them get the account transcript from the school.
The more I know the more I don’t know.
