All,
Any idea how to handle a discrepancy with a broker that issued a 1099B showing no withholding and a client that has documentation including deposits and transaction letters that show withholding took place?
The broker says its not their problem.
Thanks!

I think it was a restricted stock option. If so, the withholding would be on a W2 and the income claimed on a 1099B?

Its already included in Box 2 of the W2, as well as the purchase costs have been included in Box 1.
Make sure the brokerage has the right basis, they don't always have it right....do you have the printout of what they paid?

Thank you, yes, the printout matches so they got the basis right.
I also found a pay stub showing fed and state that matches. WOOHOO!
Thank you.
