Have a 1099R distribution from Inherited IRA... Does this get handled in the usual 1040 fashion? Or is something more dramatic in play here?

You aren't going to get nominated for any Oscars since there is no drama involved. Just enter it like you would any other 1099R.

(And then scroll down a wee bit on the 1099-R Wks to check the appropriate box in the Inherited IRA section.)
