Hi folks. I have a NY state return for a W-2 when client was there for 3 months and client is resident of California. I faced an error for Code NYTPRIN Exclusion. Do I have to register for E-file NY return, if yes, can I skip it and file paper instead of E-filing?
Thank you so much for taking time.

Unless you meet the exclusion you have to register. If you prepare less than 10 NYS for compensation, the registration is free.

Thanks a lot. I already found this link. I was not able to register for, do you know should I call NY tax department? I think for this tax season I will have less than 10 returns, also I am not in the list of exclusion.

You need to register as a paid preparer who files tax returns in NY not a free file NYS website

Answer the questions on the registration for a preparer: Will you prepare 10 or more NYS tax returns for compensation? I'm assuming your answer will be no.
Start here you should be able to figure it out.
