IRS was promoting the fully refundable child care credit deal, but Im not seeing it in action.
Ive got a single parent with 2 kids, paid out $14,113 in child care. I see the 50% amount on Line 9a of the 2441 ($7057) , but then I only see a non refundable amount on Line 11 $3625 (which is the amount of tax liability she has and wipes it out to zero).
Line 10 of the 2441 is the line for refundable child care credit, which is empty, but that appears to be a fill in line, are we suppose to fill that in ourselves?

OK, I did totally overlook something, there's a box at the top of the 2441 that you need to check for the refundable portion to be computed! DOH!
Thanks @garman22 !!

You need to check the box B on the top of the form 2441

Thanks for pointing that out, I hadn't come across that yet.
But it seems rather bizarre why we would need to check than additional box. It would seem more logical to need to check a box if they DON'T qualify for it to be refundable.

Just curious, why would someone who is eligible choose not to accept it? I'm probably missing something but is there a negative to taking it?

that article is incomplete re: the 2441. I think its general info other than the explanation of 21 rules
