I have a client who files his return with a 4029 Exemption, usually they only receive the child tax care credit up to how much they owe. They don't usually get the additional child tax credit. I am having trouble getting that to show on form 8812. Anyone have this problem and figured out a solution?

I too have some 4029exempt. I don't have any to prepare yet but I think they will get a refund of any excess not used against tax liability. New rules for 2021 return...100% refundable.

what if you increase the amount they got as an advance would that knock down any refundable amount on the return?
