I have a client who has an adult child. The child has a mental disability and lives outside of the home in a managed care apartment. However, our client pays more than half of the costs for this adult child, including most of the cost of the apartment. The child does qualify as an "other dependent" since her only income is SSI and the adult child meets the other requirements. However, under any circumstance could this adult child qualify her mother, our client, for EITC or Head of Household since the adult child does not live at home ? Everything I'm reading says no but i wonder if I'm missing something.
Thanks in Advance!
