We're noticing the same thing. In 2023 Lacerte, changing the date of death year works as expected and updates the basic exclusion amount, in 2024 Lacerte it seems locked at 2024's figure. I called Lacerte support about this two months ago and it is still not fixed. Trying my luck again today!

Edit: Lacerte support confirmed the issue and said a fix will be coming in a later update, but was unable to give any ETA. I submitted the simple suggestion of just allowing us to override the basic exclusion amount...
