I'm working with the 2024 software for a 2025 death. I used the January 2025 date as the date of death. The basic exclusion amount is still the 2024 amount. I don't understand what you meant by
"You can see for yourself by creating test Forms 706 with different dates of death and see the correct exclusion amount for that year appear in line 9a."
I use the 2024 software, and changed the date of death to different years. None of the changes caused the amount to change. It stays at 13,610,000. I changed the ssn to 999-99-9999, and every time I changed the date to a different year, I needed to do REP. But the amount stayed at the 2024 exclusion.
Any advice?
