I have only ever used UltraTax before moving to my current firm, which uses Lacerte. One feature I really liked from UT was that I could press F8 and it would pull up the prior-year data entry so I could look to see what was filled in. Does Lacerte have something similar?

Lacerte shows you the prior-year numbers without the need to press anything.

Yes, but in UT I was able to quickly open the prior-year statement data entry to see what was entered in for let's say Other Expense where we have multiple items under that category. Right now in Lacerte I'm only seeing the total but what I'd like to be able to see is how we got to that total by looking at the statement detail.

You can open last year's program and look.
Make sure last return's is locked so you don't accidentally enter data in it. (Been there and done that)
The more I know the more I don’t know.

Lacerte is cheaper than Ultra Tax.
