The problems you might experience with Azure will be with bandwidth and support. Lacerte requires a very small response time from the client to the server. Typically, there is enough lag from onsite to Azure that the program will crash. I tested this with a 500mbps dedicated fiber connection. Even one client was too much.
Secondly, Lacerte Support will not assist with this environment. As another poster noted, Intuit wants everyone to use the RightWorks cloud. To work around this, you could create the server workload in Azure AND additional workstations in-cloud, but this will require the RDP connections. Alternatively, you could set up a single on-site Win11 Professional/Enterprise workstation to act as the server by sharing out the C:\Lacerte folder to the local domain or workgroup. Workgroup security won't be as good as a domain but will suffice. Maximum number of connections is restricted to 10 based on workstation license for Windows Pro/Ent.
