The Data Path and Shared k1 Data Path are so all users can access the same client and retrieve K1 data from the same place. There are also alerts that the file is in use, if a second user tries to enter that client file. 

I am not an expert on what you are doing. I know there have been posts in the past from users doing what you are setting up. Lacerte wants everyone to use their Right Networks setup, as that keeps the cash flow flowing.
