when I try to open 2018 Lacerte it says I need to update the software and the browser does not support it. so how do I update the software if I can't get into the program?

Go to Windows 'Start' key & run WebSetUp. Force install if necessary, and no, you won't lose your data.
Or use the Lacerte Tax Hub, if you've downloaded it.

Try the above fix mentioned in the link ↑ when attempting to log-in to 2018
Lacerte Login error: "You’ll need to update your software to access your Intuit Account here"
