In Screen 1, At the top, What is the resident state at the end of the year? Did you look at the set of CA forms? Is there a 3903 in that set of forms? Schedule C NR, page 2 line 26 - Is there a number there?

Thanks for looking at this.  Yes, its a CA full year resident (screen 1 box checked) who's move was within California.  In my client's case, the moving deduction is allowed for CA, but not for Federal.  It is not an "Armed Forces move", so the moving deduction is not deductible on the federal tax return.  CA does not conform to the new tax law, so I am trying to report the deduction on CA without it showing up on the federal tax return.

I cannot get Lacerte to omit the moving deduction from the federal return, but have it show up as a deduction on the CA return.  I have resorted to adding a subtraction to Line 36 Column B of Schedule CA.

I just tested a full year resident and I still get a 3903 on the CA return. What are the numbers you are using in Screen 27? Is it possible you got your first two mileages backwards?
Not "Armed Forces" Did you accidentally check one of the boxes?, like FORCE form 3903?
The program works, look very carefully at your input. The program will do it correctly.

I had the miles from old home to new/old work backwards.  It works now.  Thanks for the double check
