I am trying to elect QTIP but the box on the Beneficiary Tab on Screen 2 is grayed out....why is that?

Did you indicate the beneficiary is the spouse?
The more I know the more I don’t know.

Although I am not clear on why checking one precludes the other? If I uncheck the surviving spouse and check the QTIP election then page 2 of 706 in box 4 shows none and instead shows her in box 5 as someone other than the surviving spouse. Seems like I am still missing a step here to get Sch M part A to populate correctly.

Any update? I am having the same issue. I can't get a Surviving Spouse to include QTIP property in Sch M part A (QTIP Election). It forces all the assets in Part B "All Other Properties".
