There are reports that "Updates are grayed out". This is working as designed with Lacerte Background Updates for Lacerte 2024. See the article here for Lacerte Background updates. 

We're currently investigating instances of messages: 

"cannot check for updates at this time" or "cannot enable background updates at this time. please try again later"

In the meantime, you can update Lacerte by
1. Selecting the Start button for Windows
2. Then select: All Program -> Lacerte -> 2024 Lacerte WebSetup.

If WebSetup is not available, you can see the article on how to perform a forced install of Lacerte.

This unexpected behavior has been addressed in a program update, available January 15, 2025 (Version 45.0115)
