Talking Tax Reform: A Three-Part Series on Tax Reform for U.S. Companies, Individuals and Entrepreneurs

Over the past several months, the Tax Foundation, together with the Intuit® Tax & Financial Center, held a three-part event series on top issues regarding tax reform on Capitol Hill. Each event featured an expert panel discussion, and the topics included tax reform for U.S. companies, individuals and entrepreneurs.

In the first event, the expert panel discussed border adjustability, cash flow taxes and U.S. companies. The panelists were:

  • Elena Patel, Ph.D., financial economist, Office of Tax Analysis, U.S. Treasury
  • Douglas Holtz-Eakin, president, American Action Forum
  • William Gale, co-director, Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center

In the second event of the series, the expert panel discussed simplifying our outmoded tax code to accommodate today’s complex family situations. The panelists were:

  • Elaine Maag, senior research associate, Urban Institute
  • Kyle Pomerleau, director of federal projects, Tax Foundation
  • Nina Olson, national taxpayer advocate, IRS
  • Pete Sapp, president, National Taxpayers Union

In the third event, the expert panel discussed how we might craft business tax policies that don’t act as barriers to entrepreneurship. The panelists were:

  • Scott Greenberg, director of federal projects, Tax Foundation
  • Tom Nichols, Meissner Tierney Fisher & Nichols S.C.
  • Tim Kane, fellow, Hoover Institution
  • Donald Marron, director of economic policy initiatives, Urban Institute
