Repairing ProSeries HomeBase on a network installation

This article will help you resolve the following issues:
- ProSeries is slow to open
- ProSeries is slow to open client files
- Client files are duplicated or missing
At times, it may be necessary to correct client files that show as duplicates in any of the HomeBase views or to improve performance when opening.
- This article references default installation paths and uses YY to reference the tax year in 20YY format. C: will always indicate the local drive and X: will always indicate the network drive.
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
- Close ProSeries on all workstations.
- Open Windows File Explorer on the Admin computer.
- Browse to the C:\ProWinYY folder.
- Right-Click on the HomeBase folder and choose to Rename.
- Add OLD to the end and press Enter so it now called HomeBaseOLD.
- Highlight the ProSeries icon on the Desktop.
- Hold down the Shift key and press the Enter key on the keyboard.
- The sign in screen should appear.
- Let go of shift to enter the username and password.
- Hold down Shift before clicking the Sign In.
- Continue to hold down Shift until you see "ProSeries is about to rebuild your HomeBase files. Do you wish to continue?"
- Release Shift and select Yes.
- Repeat step 2-12 on each workstation.
ProSeries 2015 and prior:
- Exit ProSeries on all workstations.
- Highlight the ProSeriesicon from the Desktop.
- Hold down the Shift key and press the Enter key on the keyboard.
- Continue to hold down the Shift key.
- If the Access Rights feature is enabled, the login screen will appear. Release the Shift key and enter the username and password. Be sure to hold down the Shift key again before clicking the OK button on the Access Rights login.
- When the message "ProSeries is about to rebuild your HomeBase files. Do you wish to continue?" appears, release the Shift key and click Yes.
- OnceProSeries is open on the Admin workstation, Repeat these steps, starting with step 2, to rebuild the HomeBase for each workstation.
