How to resolve ProConnect Tax diagnostic ref. 35607

This article will help you resolve the following error in ProConnect Tax:

"e-file: Taxpayer's Indiana county code of residence or work activity is missing or invalid. If the taxpayer is retired, a homemaker, or unemployed, enter the county of residence 2-digit code number in both the "County code of residence" and "County code of work activity" fields." (ref. #35607)

To resolve this diagnostic

This diagnostic generates when information is missing from under Miscellaneous Information/Direct Deposit.

For a resident:

  1. Go to Input Return General Miscellaneous Information/Direct Deposit.
  2. Select the IN tab.
  3. Scroll down to the section Indiana Miscellaneous.
  4. In the field County code of residence under the subsection Self, use the dropdown options to select the County name.

For a non-resident:

  1. Go to Input Return General Miscellaneous Information/Direct Deposit.
  2. Select the IN tab.
  3. Scroll down to the section Indiana Miscellaneous.
  4. In the field County code of residence under the subsection Self, use the dropdown options to select the County name.
  5. Select All Other States from the dropdown menu.
  6. In the field County code of work activity under the subsection Self use the dropdown options to select the County name.
  7. Select All Other States from the dropdown menu.

For a resident:

  1. Go to Input Return General Miscellaneous Information/Direct Deposit.
  2. Select the IN tab.
  3. Scroll down to the section Indiana Miscellaneous.
  4. In the field County code of residence under the subsection Spouse, use the dropdown options to select the County name.
  5. Open the dropdown menu County code of work activity under the subsection Spouse and use the dropdown options to select the County name.

For a non-resident:

  1. Go to Input Return General Miscellaneous Information/Direct Deposit.
  2. Select the IN tab.
  3. Scroll down to the section Indiana Miscellaneous.
  4. In the field County code of residence under the subsection Spouse, use the dropdown options to select the County name.
  5. Select All Other States from the dropdown menu.
  6. In the field County code of work activity under the subsection Spouse use the dropdown options to select the County name.
  7. Select All Other States from the dropdown menu.

The option All Other States can be selected if the county isn't available.
