The input for State if Different for long-term capital gain (Loss) for California isn't available in Lacerte.
by Intuit• Updated 3 months ago
California doesn't have a distinction between short and long-term capital gains, so Lacerte doesn't provide a State, if Different field for long-term gains. As a result, when entering information for a California return, there won't be a State, if Different field for long-term capital gains for California. The field may be present on a multi-state return due to other states, but you will be unable to select CA in the state selector.
When entering a State, if Different amount is needed for California, the total short-term and long-term amount should be entered in the State, if Different field for short-term.
