How can I get the Schedule R to generate?

Solution

CA Schedule R will generate if it is a multi-state return in Lacerte.  For companies that only conduct business in California or in a state where a tax return is not required.

Follow these steps to generate Schedule R:

  1. Go to Screen 1, Client Information.
  2. Go to section State Information.
  3. Check the box Multi-State Return?.
  4. The Select a state box will pop up: select a state or click Cancel if no other states are applicable.

Note: The California Schedule R is not available in the Individual module.  This form can be accessed within the business modules; Partnership, Corporate, and S-Corporate, and utilized to manually determine apportionment and allocation of business income conducted partly within and outside of California.
