Entering a NY Preparer Exclusion Code or NYTPRIN in Lacerte
by Intuit• Updated 1 month ago
Paid preparers must enter either their New York Tax Preparer Registration Identification Number (NYTPRIN) or an exclusion code (if they aren't required to register).
Follow these steps to enter the NY Preparer exclusion code:
- From the Settings menu, select Options.
- Go to the Preparers tab.
- Double-click on the Preparer.
- Remove any entry in the NYTPRIN (New York ONLY) field.
- The New York Department of Taxation and Finance implemented processing rules beginning June 1, 2015 to require additional firm and preparer information for TY14 New York tax returns. NA or N/A is no longer allowed for e-file and must be removed from this field.
- Locate the Exclusion Code (New York ONLY) dropdown menu.
- Select the applicable code that applies to the preparer:
- 01 Attorney
- 02 Employee of attorney
- 03 CPA
- 04 Employee of CPA
- 05 PA (Public Accountant)
- 06 Employee of PA
- 07 Enrolled Agent
- 08 Employee of enrolled agent
- 09 Volunteer tax preparer
- 10 Employee of business preparing return
- Click OK.
Follow these steps to enter the New York Preparer Registration Number (NYTPRIN):
- From the Settings menu, select Options.
- Go to the Preparers tab.
- Double-click on the Preparer, or select the Preparer and click Modify.
- Enter your New York Tax Preparer Registration Number in NYTPRIN (New York only).
- Click OK.
