How to enter Energy Efficiency Tax Deduction Section 179D deductions in ProConnect Tax
by Intuit• Updated 3 months ago
The amount of deduction claimed under Section 179D should be entered:
(1) As an "other deduction" on the "Deductions" screen.
(2) On the asset itself, on the "Depreciation" screen, as a "basis reduction (amortizable costs expensed, ITC, etc.)".
S-Corporation:
The input for that line is in the Ordinary Income section in the screen, Deductions. Scroll down to the "Other" subsection and then click in the field, "Other deductions (Click on button to expand)". Select the More actions icon to the right of the field to expand the input field. Enter the appropriate description and amount.
Partnership:
In a Partnership return, go to the section, Ordinary Income, and then go to the screen, Deductions. Scroll down to the "Other" subsection and then click in the field, "Other deductions (Click on button to expand)". Select the More actions icon to the right of the field to expand the input field. Enter the appropriate description and amount.
Corporate:
For a Corporation, go to the section, Deductions, and then go to the screen, Deductions. Scroll down to the "Other" subsection and then click in the field, "Other (Click on button to expand)". Enter the appropriate description and amount.
