If you receive an error message along the lines of You currently don't have permissions to [action]. Contact your firm's Admin for authorization either when trying to create new returns or when e-file roles have changed for tax year 2025, see here for how your firm Admin can resolve it.
If you are looking for how to amend a different return type, select your return type below:
Follow these steps to e-file an amended business return:
- Go to the Profile tab.
- Select the Select for e-file box for Federal.
- Scroll down to the Amendments section.
- Select the Select for e-file box for Federal Amended.
- Go to the File Return tab.
- Select e-file Amendment from the left menu.
- Clear any critical diagnostics.
- Select E-File Now.
The steps listed above are also applicable for 1040-X e-filing.
To see if your return is eligible for e-file:
- Go to the Profile tab.
- Scroll down and locate the state or module in question.
- The column to the right titled Eligible for E-file will inform you of the return's eligibility.
