How to create and apply a custom allocation group in Lacerte

This article will help explain how to create a custom allocation group in the partnership module, and to enter the information all at once. For example, if you have 140+ partners in a partnership return and 140 of them have special allocations.
How to create a custom allocation group
- Open Screen 29, Special Allocations.
- Select Manage Groups.
- In the Custom Allocation Groups window, select Add.
- In the Modify customgroup window, enter the name for the allocation group in the Group Name box, then enter a description in the Description box.
- To add partners to this group, select one of the predefined filters or select the partners you want, then select Add.
- In the Allocation Method menu, select Percentage or Amount.
- In the Allocation Amount column, enter the specially allocated dollar amount for the partner, or in the Allocation % column, enter the specially allocated percentage (in xx.xxxxxx format) for the partner.
- Select OK to save the custom group.
When the box to proforma is selected, the group and percentages applied to groups do proforma.
Use a custom group as an allocation method?
- Open Screen 29, Special Allocations.
- In the Section list, select the appropriate folder to expand the tree.
- In the expanded Section list, select the item.
- In the Allocation Method menu, select the custom group.
This custom group can only be applied to the input in Screen 29.
