How do I generate Forms 8453-EO or 8879-EO?
- Signature Form 8453-EO must be signed, scanned, and attached as a PDF to an E-filed return or extension.
- Signature Form 8879-EO must be signed for an E-filed return or extension, then kept in the preparer's files.
To generate the signature form for the Main Return (Form 990, 990EZ, 990PF) for a specific client file:
- Go to Screen 5, Electronic Filing.
- Scroll down to the Paperless Filing - Overrides section.
- Enter a '1' to generate Form 8879-EO, or '2' to generate Form 8453-EO in, e-file PIN signature: 1=when applicable, 2=suppress [O].
To generate the signature form for the first extension (Form 8868) for a specific client file:
- Go to Screen 5, Electronic Filing.
- Scroll down to the Paperless Filing - Overrides section.
- Enter a '1' to generate Form 8879-EO, or '2' to generate Form 8453-EO in, e-file PIN signature: 1=when applicable, 2=suppress [O].
- Go to Screen 15, Extensions.
- Check the box e-file automatic extension.
To generate the signature form for all clients:
- Click on Settings.
- Click on Options.
- Select the Tax Return tab.
- Select the following e-file Pin Signature option form the drop down menu:
- When applicable: defaults to Form 8879-EO.
- Suppress: defaults to Form 8453-EO.
