How to resolve Lacerte diagnostic ref. 58843

This article will help to resolve the following diagnostic:

• Form 4868 Reject: Form 4868 can only be filed on or before the original due date to which the extension applies, unless Line 8 checkbox or Line 9 checkbox is checked. If Line 8 checkbox or Line 9 checkbox is checked, then Form 4868 can only be filed on or before the extended due date for taxpayers out of the country. (ref. #58843)

To resolve, follow these steps:

If you receive this message while finalizing the return, it indicates that Form 4868 can only be filed on or before the extended due date for taxpayers who are out of the country.

1. Open Payment & Penalties menu.
2. Go to Screen 9 Extensions (4868, 2350, 8868).
3. Scroll down to e-File Extension.
4. Remove the "1" in e-file extension Form 4868 or Form 2350.

This diagnostic won't prevent e-file transmission.
