Troubleshooting ProConnect Tax Diagnostic ref. 43487 - two or more 1095-As linked to multiple businesses

by Intuit Updated 5 months ago

When two or more Form 1095-A are linked to multiple businesses for self-employment health insurance purposes, the following diagnostic generates in the Individual Return:

Two or more Form 1095-A's are linked to multiple businesses for self-employment health insurance purposes. ProConnect Tax doesn't support linking self-employed health insurance to multiple businesses. (ref. #43487)

  • The Taxpayer had a Schedule C while single. The Taxpayer also had health care coverage through the marketplace.
  • The spouse had a separate Schedule C while single. The spouse also had health care coverage through the marketplace.
  • Later in the year they married and received separate 1095-As while self-employed.

How do I resolve this diagnostic?

Do the following to resolve this diagnostic:

  • Make sure the Schedule C activities (businesses) are marked correctly for the taxpayer or spouse. If both activities are marked as Taxpayer—or both activities are marked as Spouse—the diagnostic will continue to generate.
  • On Input Return Deductions Adjustments to Income, check for any entries in the SE Health Insurance section. Remove any entries in the Net Earnings (if multiple businesses) field (if only 1 business is present).
