How to resolve diagnostic ref 40202 in Lacerte

When working on an fiduciary (Form 1041) return where Form 8949 has been generated, you may encounter the following diagnostic:

"The acceptable substitute for Form 8949, Sales and Other Dispositions of Capital Assets must be included with the return as PDF." (ref# 40202)

Why is this generating?

This diagnostic, and those similarly worded, tend to present themselves when the program has been instructed to look elsewhere for supporting information, relating to the form mentioned.

How do I resolve this diagnostic?

In this particular case, it's the byproduct of the Summary from attached statement box being marked, which is why the program diagnostic provides the guidance to attach a PDF, as it's looking for that statement.

If this box was marked in error and there's no need for an attached statement:

1. Go to Screen 22, Dispositions and select Schedule D/4797/etc.
2. Under the Schedule D subsection, uncheck the Summary from attached statement.

The diagnostic should now be cleared.
