Below are solutions to frequently asked questions about generating and entering information from Form 1040-NR, U.S. Nonresident Alien Income Tax Return, in the Individual module of Lacerte.
How do I get an amount on Form 1040-NR Line 22, Total income exempt by treaty
- On the Detail tab, go to Screen 58, Nonresident Alien (1040NR)
- On the left navigational panel, select Other Information.
- Locate the table Income Exempt from Tax at the bottom of the input screen.
- Enter the Country, Tax Treaty Article, Number of Months Claimed in Prior Tax Years, and Amount of Exempt Income in the Current Year.
This will flow to Form 1040NR, page 1, line 22 and page 5, item L (Form 1040NR-EZ, page 1, line 6 and page 2, item J.)
