Entering gambling winnings and losses in ProConnect

This article will assist you with entering gambling winnings and losses in Intuit ProConnect.

To enter Form W-2G gambling winnings:

  1. Go to the Input Return tab.
  2. From the left of the screen, select Income and choose Gambling Winnings / Losses (W-2G).
  3. Click the blue Details button to expand the input screen.
  4. Complete all applicable entries under the W-2G Payer Information (mandatory for e-file) section.
  5. Scroll down to the W-2G Gambling Winnings section.
  6. Check the Spouse W-2G box, if applicable.
  7. Enter the applicable amounts for fields 1–18 as reported on Form W2-G.

To enter Form W-2G gambling losses:

  1. Go to the Input Return tab.
  2. From the left of the screen, select Income and choose Gambling Winnings / Losses (W-2G).
  3. Click the blue Details button to expand the input screen.
  4. In the upper right corner of the screen, click the blue Losses/Misc Winnings link.
  5. Enter Total gambling losses.
  6. Enter State total gambling losses, if different.
    • Gambling losses can only be offset to the extent of gambling winnings. The amount of gambling losses allowed will flow to Schedule A, line 28.

To enter gambling winnings not reported on Form W-2G:

  1. Go to the Input Return tab.
  2. From the left of the screen, select Income and choose Gambling Winnings / Losses (W-2G).
  3. Click the blue Details button to expand the input screen.
  4. In the upper right corner of the screen, click the blue Losses/Misc Winnings link.
  5. Enter the Winnings not reported on Form W-2G.

To enter state taxable gambling winnings:

  1. Go to the Input Return tab.
  2. From the left of the screen, select Income and choose Gambling Winnings / Losses (W-2G).
  3. Click the blue Details button to expand the input screen.
  4. In the upper right corner of the screen, click the blue Losses/Misc Winnings link.
  5. Enter the State taxable winnings not reported on Form W-2G, if different.
