How to enter a prior or current year installment sale (Form 6252) in ProConnect Tax

You only need to complete either the current year or prior year sections, not both.

To enter a current year installment sale follow these steps:

  1. Go to Input Return Income Dispositions (Sch D, etc.) Schedule D/4797/etc.
  2. Fill out all the fields in the quick entry grid with all the relevant information.
  3. Select Details to expand the input.
  4. Go to the section tab Sale of Asset 4797, 6252.
  5. Scroll down to Current Year Installment Sale (6252) and enter any other information that applies to the installment sale.

ProConnect Tax only generates Form 6252 when the transaction produces a gain. If there's a loss, a worksheet will generate showing the calculation.

  3. Select Details to expand the input.
  4. Go to the section tab Sale of Asset 4797, 6252.
  5. Scroll down to the section Prior Year Installment Sale (6252) and enter any other information that applies to the installment sale.
