Filing Forms 8655 and 8633 to e-file Forms 940 and 941 in EasyACCT

Before you start:
- To e-file Forms 940 and 941, you must first complete Form 8633 to get your Electronic Filing Identification Number (EFIN) and ETIN/PIN.
- You must also complete Form 8655 for each client return you wish to e-file.
First, complete Form 8655 Reporting Agent Authorization
To participate in the IRS e-file program for federal employment taxes and to act as a reporting agent:
- Complete Form 8655 Reporting Agent Authorization for each client you wish to e-file.
- This will establish you as a reporting agent for your client.
- Complete Form 8633 Application to Participate in the IRS E-file Program.
- This will grant you an EFIN and ETIN.
- If you e-file tax returns, you still must complete this form for information returns.
If you haven't completed and submitted these forms to the IRS, they will reject your e-file submission.

The program will ask you if you've completed Form 8655 for each client before creating the e--file for Forms 940 and 941.
How to e-file Form 940 and Form 941 in EasyACCT
- In the Print Reports screen, select Form 940/941 to print.
- After reviewing the information on-screen for accuracy, select Create EF.
If any errors are displayed, follow these steps to fix them before proceeding:
- Print the list of errors. Select Close.
- Fix each error from the list.
- Repeat steps 1 and 2 from above.
- Enter your EFIN, PIN (both assigned by the IRS) and Contact Information, Agency EIN and address. All fields must be completed for Mechanized e-file (MeF).
- If you don't have an EFIN or PIN, select the link for more information on obtaining one and follow those instructions.
- Complete forms 8633 and 8655 with the IRS before submitting an e-file 940 or 941.
- The 8655 must be filed for each company, otherwise the return will be rejected by the IRS.
- Select Submit to send the file to the taxing authority.
- Next, you'll see a confirmation page where you can optionally print the confirmation for your records.
- To select the E-file Status, select System > View E-File History.
- Select Audit Trail for more detailed information.
- Choose Reprint E-filing to see a form view of what was submitted to the taxing authority.
Don't change the Company EIN to match the Paid Preparer EIN. This will result in a rejection notification. Not available in EasyACCT Business program (EBS)
