Accessing inputs from the Sections and Topics tabs in Lacerte

Starting in tax year 2019, Lacerte introduced subsections within 50 complex input screens to simplify the entry process. It also introduced the Topics tab in the left-hand menu to help users select a range of screens related to one subject.

• The Topics tab lets you see related screens based on a subject, making scrolling unnecessary.
• The Sections tab lists all the inputs for a particular screen. This is the classic input experience.

To change the default global option to collapse or expand sections :

1. From the Settings menu, select Options. 
2. Select the Setup tab.
3. Scroll down to the Expandable/Collapsible Sections section.
4. Choose Expand all collapsible sections or Collapse sections without data.
