Troubleshooting ProConnect diagnostic Ref. 25183
by Intuit• Updated 3 months ago
A fiduciary has a nonresident or foreign beneficiary who does not have a social security number, or employer identification number. When the Identification Number field in Beneficiary/Grantor Info. > Beneficiary/Grantor Information is blank, a critical diagnostic generates:
- Beneficiary/Grantor #X: The Beneficiary Identification Number is either missing or invalid. It should be a nine-digit number, "Applied For", "Foreign US", or "Form1042S" for a foreign beneficiary.
To resolve the diagnostic
- Go to Beneficiary/Grantor Info. > Beneficiary/Grantor Information.
- Select the foreign beneficiary using the tabs at the top of the screen.
- Select the applicable option in the Identification Number field.
- Go to the Check Return tab and verify the diagnostic is no longer present.
